What is Light Speed Internet Service from 281.COM?

The 281.COM Light Speed network is a Wireless LAN based on Cisco
Systems 802.11b standard technology.

What can I do with Light Speed Internet?
|
Anything requiring high bandwidth and low latency. Stream
video and music, connect to VPN, download and upload at incredible speeds.

What equipment do I need for my laptop?
|
Cisco Aironet 802.11b adapter which costs $180.00, cable, and an
antenna. Other brands may work, but are not supported by 281.COM Support
Team.

What additional equipment do I need for my home or office desktop? Network?
|
An external 3Com bridge or Teletronix bridge are required in
addition to the Cisco Aironet 802.11b adapter. $250 - $320 More
cable, stronger antenna's, and labor ($40/hour for 2 men) may be required.

What is the price range of typical home installations?
|
The minimum equipment required costs less than $300, but most
homes require external 3Com or Teletronix equipment, poles or towers, cabling
through attics and walls, and labor to complete the installation. The
average installation runs $700.00.

get Light Speed.

What kind of antenna's are used?
|
Most customers can use a patch antenna which is up to 14" X
14" and about 2" thick. It can be painted! Most are
installed on what is equivalent to a satellite dish mount. Some customers
require the large wire dish or solid dish. If looks are important, 281.COM
stocks small cylindrical "Yagi" antenna's which are less visible and
can be painted.

What will it look like on my home or office?
|
281.COM is expert at aesthetically pleasing installation of our
antenna's. Some homes require a 30 foot or more pole/tower to achieve a
connection with guy wires. This is clearly explained before you pay, after
the survey, if required.
